Home security and systems

Home security is important to everyone, but other than door locks many homes are largely unprotected. Criminals know that doors have the highest security of any part of a home so they often completely bypass them, except for the gratuitous jiggle to see if it is somehow unlocked. Windows and garage doors are the most likely places for a criminal to gain entry.
Good home security systems have sensors on the windows and doors which when armed are effective warning and prevention tools. Loud security alarms are excellent at preventing further entry and also alert neighbors. The main factor here is keeping the system armed, an unarmed system is completely useless. The next step in home alarms is the addition of motion sensors in key locations. These detect movement in certain areas and when the system is armed they can sound the alarm even if the intruders somehow teleported into the room bypassing all other alarms.
Some of the best security systems are provided by security companies that connect to large network or security personnel that are on duty twenty four hours a day seven days a week. When an alarm is tripped a surveillance office is notified that can contact the owner and advise police, fire and emergency personnel about the situation. Many also have private guards that can be dispatched for quick response incase of danger. Home automation can allow owners to view the status of their security system from remote locations.
With the uncertainty of the economy and food prices obviously rising many people have become more concerned about the security of their assets as well as themselves. Personal security is important everywhere and in civil societies is prevalent even on the street. There are plenty of places that are safe to walk around with no defense at all, but those places are declining. Personal alarms are good at declaring that help is needed if people are around, but the goodwill of the fellow man has declined in recent days, no one may respond. The best way to receive help when being assaulted, raped, or robbed is to cry “FIRE” because of the likelihood that someone will respond.
The best defense is to be prepared, whether it is with security cameras at home or pepper spray in the purse or preferably both. But security is limited to the real world anymore either. Data mining, hacking and other computer crimes are largely working on identity theft which can allow them to take out huge loans or enact other nefarious schemes in someone else’s name. Computer and wireless security is just as important to protecting records and information as home security is at protecting physical valuables.
